A Welcoming Circle of Voices

11th May 2026, 18.30pm - 21.30pm
Belfast Room, Ulster Museum, Stranmillis Road, Botanic Gardens, Belfast, BT9 5AB

Many of us have parts of ourselves that we don’t share widely in front of others, even if they are quite essential to who we are and were there when we were young. While this is a natural part of growing-up, it can also lead to a loss of some of our richness and aliveness in the process.

What if we could ask a warm, friendly circle of others to offer a supportive presence as we express these parts of ourselves that we don’t usually share? That’s what we’ll have a chance to explore in this evening workshop.

We will engage in a gentle reflective inquiry to discover the parts of ourselves that we felt didn’t belong, give them the space to make their sound with simple vocal support from the rest of the group, and explore the experience of participating in a shared circle of co-created song together.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: Seated in a circle with options for sitting on floor, chairs or space for wheelchairs. No loud noises / flashing lights.

Tearmann Éiriu, 4 Whiterock Close, Belfast BT12 7RG

Upper Springfield has a long history and culture of community organising, out of necessity and having to fill the gaps left by state neglect.

New Script for Mental Health is a grassroots mental health campaign led by people with lived experience of the issues and rooted in human rights.

Local groups and New Script activists have been working closely over the last year, deepening our understanding of what it means to develop community-centric responses to our mental health crisis.

This event brings activists and community organisations together once again, this time to honour place, connection & belonging through story, poetry and song.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION: The event will be held on rough ground but we will endeavour to make it accessible to people with mobility issues – please contact the organiser for further information.

TICKETS: Free – email sara@pprproject.org to reserve a place, numbers limited.

If you have been affected by any of the issues raised in the work we showcase, resources are available here.
